I understand that draft control can be added to an existing Kubota. My dealer tells me it is no long avaliable for the L2900. Is that be an item I should consider searching the used market for? Does any one know where I might begin my search?

You have a lot of tools that might work at their best with draft control but many work without it using the same tools. I'd wouldn't worry about it. ....

I agree with Art. But if you have something that really needs to follow the land you may have options such as adding wheels to the equipement like a finishing mower uses.
Years ago Ford tractors lifts never held a load level. For field cultivation that was a problem. So the local farmer added skids that were adjustable and let the plow slide along very well on them. Work so well other brands of tractor owners used them for convenience. ....

Steve let me get into this a little more. Draft controls all work differently, not just to say that some are a bending bar design to address the torque and some are a twist or some are electronic. On larger tractor's they use lower link and on smaller tractor's they use upper or top link sencing. It goes beyond that to how much will it sense or what will it take to know when to move and how often! I've been lucky enough to see the differences in the ag applications of plowing and subsoiling as well as with backblades and box scrapers and the results of better fuel economy and smoother operation of the eqiupment. Now for the bomb! A draft system that doesn't offer an ability to address less then a 10% difference or to not address it within a second or quicker does no good and people often went to hand operation to control the depth of the equipment as some manufacturers have designs that won't change unless a 20% or greater load change is felt which normally would mean the tires might even begin to spin before the draft would signal to adjust the hitch. For that reason I would not go for the additional cost and time to add it. ....

Art,
What is the difference between the top link and the lift arms sensing the load? I was told the top link is not as good but that was it. It does not seem to work as smooth the best I can tell. If not mistaken that is what the Kubota M 6800 uses and it can leave rolling land when cultivated.

The M-6800 is a top link sensing tractor. It is possible to have variables especially in rolling conditions just as it is in variable soils like what we have here in NY. The draft system works by resistance of the load and is supposed to keep a constant pressure against the tractor without load change. On many of the larger tractors the lift arms are parrallel to the implement being pulled unlike the top link which on many semi-mount applications are not used. ....
